Stayed for 2 nights at Cumberland. Very large, rather impersonal hotel but excelelnt staff. Saw a show 'the jersey boys' really good Excellent performers. really enjoyed the singing. slightly boring in second half due to lack of singing but overall would highly recommend this show if fans of frankie valley music. overall enjoyed stay room was very nice, only complaint could have been queueing for table at breakfast although we dined before 9.00 am and it was fine, any later and huge queue.

A customer from North Humberside who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
The hotel is very convenient (underground station just around the corner and it stands right at the top of the shopping area in Oxford Street and nearby Regent Street) and has recently been upgraded. Not to everyone's taste; it is minimalistic glass, with waterfall, green and blue spotlights. The theme continues to the bedrooms but the curtains, bed linen and lighting softens the effect. The staff are very courteous and helpful. We asked for a quiet room and although this looked out on to other rooms around a central opening, i.e. no view, it was very quiet no traffic sounds. The beds were very comfortable. However, we didn't like the breakfast room - quiet dismal and a little bit like a motorway service station. The food is prepared in different areas to cater for different cultures and religions which is really good but somehow the quality of our choice of food - cereals, fruit, english breakfast - was not as good as other hotels we have stayed in. However, overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again. We had a good four days in London, shopping and sightseeing.

We enjoyed our break in London seeing two exhibitions and a show. We were disappointed in our room at the Cumberland Hotel. We were next door to the staff elevator on the first floor, and during the night the bell pinged each time the elevator arrived on our floor. By 2.15 am, unable to get any sleep, I rang Front Reception to check if the elevator was used all night. The receptionist confirmed that it was and arranged for us to be transferred to another room. We were obviously unhappy at having to move rooms at that time of the night. Why put customers in a room knowing that there will be constant disturbance throughout the night? It spoilt what was otherwise an enjoyable break. The rest of the hotel was very elegant and the staff were pleasant.

A customer from Cardiff who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
My 14 year old daughter and I stayed in the Cumberland Hotel, just off Oxford Street at the Marble Arch End. We arrived at the hotel at 5pm, but our room was'nt ready, so the reception staff suggested we had a drink in the bar and come back at 6pm. We did this and still our room was'nt ready at 6pm -the reason being that they were one housekeeper short - hence the delay, not good enough Im afraid. We could'nt wait any longer, so we left our suitcases with the concierge and headed off out for a browse around the shops and dinner. We arrived back at the hotel at 9pm and thankfully, our room was ready by this time. Although the weather in London was'nt particularly hot at the time, our hotel room was incredibly hot - we discovered the air conditioning was'nt working. We called hotel maintenance who said they could'nt do anything that night and someone would come the next day and check it out. Sure enough, maintenance did come the next day at around lunchtime, but announced that it could not be fixed - very poor show for a 4* hotel. So for the 3 nights we stayed in the Cumberland, we had a small fan which did absolutely nothing to lower the temperature of the room. Another point I'd like to make is that disposable shower hats would have been most welcome aswell as more shampoo, soap and body wash - there was insufficient for 2 of us. The good points were:- very comfortable beds with crisp white linen.

Great location. Impressive foyer. De-luxe doubles are tiny with bed against wall resulting in acrobatics during the night! Would have upgraded to larger room with a bath to soak weary limbs after walking all day. Didn't appreciate the size of the hotel until breakfast time which was like a cross between Picadilly Circus and Butlins. Breakfast staff very helpful; desk staff less so. Variety of interesting places to eat nearby.
