Decided to avoid the centre of London as only having a 2 night break to visit London Zoo. Hampstead Britannia was brilliant, quiet area, friendly staff and fantastic breakfast, handy for London Zoo, Hampstead and Camden.

Arrived in London, checked into hotel. Then visited an auction. Following day visited Royal Acadamy of Arts to view Van Gogh exhibition, followed by trip to Kings road and antique shops. Evening went to show to see Sweet Charity which is highly recommended. Final day general sightseeing, visit to Churchill War Cabinet rooms, absolutely brilliant, then public gallery at both Houses of Commons and Lords before boarding train home.

The Hampstead Britannia hotel appears to be in the process of renovation. Our room had not been renovated yet and was a bit scruffy. However it was very quiet and the food was good. The Hampstead Britannia hotel makes a good base for an economical short break in London. Chalk farm tube station is only a 10 minute stroll away. My only major concern was the shortage of parking spaces. There are approx. 102 bedrooms and approx. 10 or so car parking spaces!.
