We recently stayed at the Park Inn Hyde Park - which was a nice enough hotel in itself, however our room was in the basement and judging by the cobwebs that had to be cleared from the light fittings, not one that is used much. The main drawback was that the hotel is sited directly above the underground, and so the only peace we got in our room was between midnight and 4:30 am. I am sure this would not have been a problem for rooms on higher floors - be warned - avoid room numbers 1000-1009, as these are the basement rooms.

Park Inn, Hyde Park

Good for location, and clean/well maintained. However, if you want basic luxury, this is not the hotel for you. Small room, microscopic towels, struggled to get hot water out of the shower (and no hot water in the evenings). No tea/coffee making facilities in the room, or even plastic cups to get a drink of water from the sink.
