My wife and I took advantage of the great low cost deal available with National Express to grab two nights in London, staying at The Thistle Barbican. We packed so much in that we did not see too much of the hotel, but it was a great base - and only two stops from Kings Cross. Once we had checked in we headed straight down to The O2. Again it was an easy ride by tube. We ate at The Gaucho Grill. Wow - lovely steaks and delicious Argentinean wine. We then took our seats for Andrea Bocelli, who was simply brilliant. The O2 is a big venue for one man to play but with a huge orchestra and perfect acoustics, it was a wonderful evening. On Friday we headed to Tower Bridge and took the Thames Clipper down-river to Westminster. The trip along The Thames in glorious sunshine, past St Pauls and onto The Houses of Parliament honestly made me proud to be British. At Westminster we rode The London Eye, taking in the new 4D show before the flight. That is quite an experience. We are going to go back and take our sons. For dinner on Friday we treated ourselves to cocktails at Lounge Lover in Shoreditch before dining at The Rivington. Both spots are 'buzzing' and an easy taxi ride from the hotel. In the morning we had an early breakfast, left our bags with the friendly front desk staff and headed into The West End for shopping and the matinee performance of Jersey Boys. What a great way to end three fantastic days in London. Jersey Boys left us on a complete high. We have just got home and I wanted to write this review while all the memories were fresh.

Location was fine bout 10 mins from underground. Phantom of the opera was out of this world. Camden market was great fun as was the ride up the canal. It was a real bonus to have a hotel with a swimming pool. We didn't waste one minute of our stay. Would be really happy to stay again but we did get a great price for room through Superbreak so thanks to them.

Arrived Thursday afternoon, went to Oxford Steet to sample shops. My wife loves the shops, I'm a once a year guy but I must say that I did enjoy the day. We also went down Bond street bought an eternity ring for my wife for our silver wedding anniversary. Found a restaurant on Bond street can't recall the name but it was very nice all the same. Next day we bought a ticket for the bus tour, I must say if you are fairly limited for time and the weather is fair its agreat way to see most of the city landmarks. The same day we bought tickets for the Jersey Boys performing at the Prince Edward theatre absolutly fantastic show. We had a few drinks in the area afterwards and there was a excited atmosphere as all the shows came out. One minus was on arrival at the hotel the receptionist informed us that they had no double rooms left, that's waht we had paid for, but she was trying to get us to pay for an upgrade, on refusal she miraculously found a double room imediately..
